Courses Taught
I have taught three courses here at Penn State: two sections of ESL 118G and one section of ESL 015.
This is my morning ESL 118G class. ESL 118G is a speaking class designed to help prepare International graduate students to become Teaching Assistants. Presentation and teaching skills and pronunciation are the focus of this course. There were 13 students in the class from China, Korea, and Latvia. They came from many different departments, from Engineering to Hospitality. They were a fun, energetic, and hard-working class.
This is my afternoon ESL 118G class. This class included 15 students from China and Japan. They also came from many different departments, with many from Physics and Economics, and even one student from Meteorology. They were always willing to work hard and enjoyed group work.
I am currently teaching ESL 015, which is an academic writing course for freshmen International students. The focus of the course is on preparing students to become successful writers at an American University. Specifically, the students learn to write different types of essays and practice grammar. My 21 students are from China, Cambodia, Korea, India, Venezuela, Brazil, and the United Arab Emirates.
